The University of the Basque Country, in collaboration with Agirre Lehendakaria Center, will welcome a delegation of institutions, businesses and research centres from Wales on September 29th and 30th.This delegation will visit Euskadi to identify possible collaboration areas in different fields: innovation policies, smart specialisation, Horizon 2020, Big Data, automotive industry and audiovisual products. In order to give continuity to the identified projects during the meetings, a Basque-Welsh collaboration network will be set up (i2Network), which will be officially created on September 29th at 11:00 in the Bizkaia Aretoa of the University of the Basque Country – UPV/EHU. (The media will be allowed to take pictures of the signing event).
The Welsh delegation is formed by agents from the public and the private sector. Amongst them, we must highlight the presence of David Rosser, Innovation Director of the Welsh Government; Kevin Morgan, professor of the University of Cardiff and author of the study on the Basque Country for the OECD; Jen Rae, co-author of “When Small is Beautiful. Lessons from highly-innovative smaller countries”; and Adam Price, NESTA coordinator in Wales.
Conference on small innovative countries
In the context of this visit, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Agirre Lehendakari Center have organised a public event to present the recent publication “When small is beautiful. Lessons of very innovative small countries”, by the British Innovation Agency (NESTA). This report, analyses the cases of the Basque Country, Finland, Israel, Estonia and Singapore. Jen Rae, Scottish co-author of the report, Kevin Morgan and the ex-Lehendakari (ex-President) of the Basque Government will participate in this conference. The conference will take place at the Bizkaia Aretoa, on Monday, September 29th at 19:00.
